Information from Vietnam Social Security said that the time for paying pensions and social insurance allowances for September 2026 in provinces and cities across the country is expected to be later than the usual schedule, due to coinciding with the National Day holiday September 9 this year, which lasts for 5 days.
According to the pension payment schedule, monthly social insurance regimes through personal accounts for 34 provinces and cities announced by Vietnam Social Security, 21 provinces and cities will organize the payment of pensions and social insurance allowances for September 2026 from the first working day after the National Day holiday, i.e., Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The list of 21 provinces and cities is as follows: Son La, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, Vinh Long, Ca Mau, Kien Giang.
For cash recipients, the payment time is decided by each locality after completing the money transfer through the account.
The specific payment schedule is notified to beneficiaries by the local Social Insurance agency in coordination with the payment support organization, in accordance with the actual conditions of each area.
According to statistics from Vietnam Social Security, in the July 2026 pension and social insurance allowance payment period - the first payment period according to the new benefit level, 3.55 million people were paid.
The new benefit level is adjusted from July 1, 2026, increasing 8% of the pension level, social insurance allowance and monthly allowance for subjects who are receiving it before July 1, 2026 according to the provisions of Decree No. 162/2026/ND-CP and the guidance of Circular No. 14/2026/TT-BNV.
Notably, in addition to the general adjustment of 8%, the Government continues to have support policies for people with low benefit levels to narrow the gap in benefit levels between target groups.
People with pensions, social insurance allowances or monthly allowances after increasing by 8% but still equal to or lower than 3.5 million VND/month will be adjusted to increase by an additional 300,000 VND/month.
In case after adjusting by 8%, the benefit level is over 3.5 million VND but below 3.8 million VND/month, it will be increased to 3.8 million VND/month.
