After 3 days of organizing continuous search day and night, the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of the Da Nang City Military Command discovered many artifacts and a piece of bone suspected to be of a martyr at the shelter in group 4, Phu Long village, Phu Thuan commune, Da Nang city.
According to information provided by local people, during the resistance war, there were two revolutionary soldiers in this area, including martyr Le Van Duong, from Ha Bac, and a female soldier operating secretly, hiding in shelters. During the time they were continuously hunted and swept by the enemy, the two soldiers could not go out.
People recounted that comrade Le Van Duong once crawled into people's houses to ask for rice to bring back to the bunker for his comrades. After that, due to being besieged by the enemy and unable to access food sources, both were said to have sacrificed in the bunker.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Da Nang City Military Command directed the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains to coordinate with local authorities to urgently survey, verify and organize continuous searches day and night.
After 3 days of deployment, by the evening of August 4, the task force had identified the location of the bunker and proceeded to excavate and exhume it overnight.
During the search, many artifacts were found, including a rice cooker, hammock, three-pronged hoe, a set of faded documents wrapped in mirror paper, a box of dry rations, an ambulance, and a piece of leg bone suspected to be of the martyr. The artifacts found initially matched the information provided by the people, contributing to further consolidating the basis for further verifying the source of information.
Currently, the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of the City Military Command is continuing to expand the search scope, coordinating with specialized agencies to examine bones and verify artifacts just discovered, determined to search for and repatriate all martyrs' remains, contributing to bringing them back to their comrades and homeland.
