On April 16, the People's Committee of Lao Bao commune (Quang Tri province) said that a storm with tornadoes had just occurred in the area, causing damage to the property of the State and people.
According to a quick report from the Civil Defense Command of Lao Bao commune, at about 5:45 pm on April 15, after prolonged hot days, a thunderstorm with tornadoes occurred in the commune, affecting some works and property.
After the tornado occurred, local authorities quickly directed agencies and units to coordinate with the Village Management Boards to deploy work to overcome the consequences, and at the same time organize reviews and statistics of damage to report according to regulations.


According to preliminary statistics as of 8:15 am on April 16, the tornado did not cause any casualties. Areas such as education, health, animal husbandry, irrigation, transportation, and communication have not recorded damage.
However, some cultural works were affected. Among them, the gate of Duy Tan village cultural house was damaged by over 70%, estimated damage of about 20 million VND.
Currently, Lao Bao Commune People's Committee is continuing to direct relevant units to review and fully summarize the extent of damage to report to higher levels, and at the same time implement remedial measures to soon stabilize people's lives.
