Dead pigs are bought on the roadside
On June 8, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province confirmed that it had reported to the Provincial People's Committee about the discovery of a truck transporting dead pigs in the concentrated slaughter area.
Accordingly, at 5:10 p.m. on June 2, the Department of Investigation Police on Economic Crimes, Corruption, Smuggling, and Environment - Quang Tri Provincial Police coordinated with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the province to inspect a truck with license plate 75C-103.01 parked at a concentrated slaughterhouse in Dong Luong Ward (Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province). At the time, there were 9 pigs in the car that had died, with blood clots and no clear cause.
The driver was identified as Mr. Dang Van Duy (born in 1991, residing in Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province) and the owner of the goods. At the time of working, Mr. Duy could not present any documents proving the origin of the shipment. He confessed to buying the pigs for 5 million VND from a truck with an unknown license plate at an intersection near an industrial park in Hai Lang district (Quang Tri province) at 3:30 p.m. the same day.
Immediately afterwards, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine directed the spraying of disinfectants throughout the area and the means of transportation; forcing the owner to destroy all 9 dead pigs.

The case is being further investigated by the Provincial Police, and the file is being transferred to the Inspectorate of the Department of Agriculture and Environment for handling according to regulations.
Requirement to control slaughter in accordance with regulations
Before the above incident, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Tri province affirmed that it had urgently implemented remedial measures. Inter-district Livestock and Veterinary Stations are directed to strengthen inspection of slaughter, transportation of animals and animal products; resolutely not allowing dead animals of unknown cause to enter the consumption chain.
A fully authorized interpreter absolutely cannot issue a quarantine certificate if he/she does not directly inspect or cannot determine the origin and purpose of use. Violations will be denied quarantine and reported for handling.
The inspection and examination of the business of veterinary drugs, animal feed and animal waste treatment products has also been tightened. Products of unknown origin and poor quality will be strictly handled according to regulations.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province requires units to closely coordinate with inspection forces, police, media and the Agricultural Extension Center to strengthen propaganda, prompt detection and reflection of violations in the agricultural sector.
