Lao Cai - Heavy rain lasting from the afternoon of July 31st to the morning of August 1st caused landslides, flooding, and flash floods in many areas in Bat Xat, Mo Vang and Bao Ai communes (Lao Cai province).

According to the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, heavy rain has caused flash floods to appear in many streams, causing localized flooding in some residential areas and landslides on many rural traffic routes.

In Bat Xat commune, soil and rocks from the landslide slope flooded into many houses in Ban Vai village, directly threatening people's safety.

In addition to casualties, the locality recorded 13 houses flooded or overflowing with soil and rocks; about 8 hectares of rice flooded; nearly 1 ton of farmed fish was swept away by floodwaters.

Meanwhile, in Mo Vang commune, after many days of prolonged rain, the Khe Nuoc area, Suoi Dam village, appeared the phenomenon of mud and water spraying from the ground, accompanied by unusual explosions.

Mud and soil flooded into some cultivated fields of people, but no casualties have been recorded.

In Bao Ai commune, the risk of landslides and flooding increased after heavy rain. Local authorities have urgently relocated 30 households out of high-risk areas to ensure safety.

Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, the government and shock forces in localities implemented the "4 on-the-spot" motto, mobilizing forces to support people to evacuate, move property and handle landslide points, gradually stabilizing people's lives.
