In the early morning of August 23, a fire occurred at Guesthouse 681, No. 681-683 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Thanh Khe ward, Da Nang city, trapping 28 people.
At about 2:49 am, the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Da Nang City Police received a fire report and immediately dispatched 1 command vehicle, 4 fire trucks and 31 officers and soldiers to the scene.
Only about 6 minutes later, firefighters arrived. The fire was identified to have originated in the motorbike parking area on the 1st floor, an area of about 20m2, where there were about 15 motorbikes.
At this time, smoke had spread densely onto the floors, while many guests could not escape.
The Fire and Rescue Police force deployed firefighting, preventing the fire from spreading, and at the same time divided into many prongs to approach from the front and rear and use ladders to the 2nd floor to search for trapped people.
At about 3 am, the fire was basically under control. Rescue teams continued to check each room, guide and bring those still trapped out.
By 3:30 am, a total of 28 people were safely rescued and handed over to the medical force. Two people with smoke inhalation and respiratory failure received medical care. No deaths were recorded in the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
