During the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday, April 30 and May 1, 2026, Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company said that it will implement a plan to increase vehicles, ensure order and safety and serve the increasing travel needs of people. It is forecast that the number of passengers at some large bus stations may increase by more than 200% compared to normal days.

Forecast of sharp increase in passenger volume at bus stations

According to Mr. Pham Manh Hung - Director of Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, due to the two consecutive holidays, the passenger flow has unusual fluctuations. Passengers are divided into three groups: Long vacation combined with two holidays; choose one suitable period; in general, it is spread evenly, not causing sudden pressure on inter-provincial transport.

During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday (March 10th of the lunar calendar) and April 30th - May 1st, 2026, it is forecast that the volume of passengers and vehicles will increase at peak times at the beginning of the holiday, including the afternoon of April 24th, April 25th, afternoon of April 29th and April 30th. The number of returning passengers will focus on April 27th (end of the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday) and May 4th (end of the April 30th - May 1st holiday).

After peak times, passenger traffic is expected to gradually decrease in the following days, equivalent to normal days and not exceeding the capacity of vehicles operating according to the chart on the route" - Mr. Hung assessed.

Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company also forecasts that at Giap Bat Bus Station, the highest number of passengers on peak days is about 9,000 passengers/day, an increase of more than 200% compared to normal days; the expected number of buses is 760 buses/day. Because they are short-distance routes, passengers travel mainly during the day, the increase in passengers is mainly concentrated in Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa routes...

At Gia Lam Bus Station, the highest number of passengers on peak days is about 1,900 passengers/day, an increase of more than 100% compared to normal days; the expected number of buses is 385 buses/day, mainly concentrated on routes such as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh...

At the same time, My Dinh Bus Station expects the number of passengers on peak days to be about 11,403 trips/day, an increase of more than 200% compared to normal days; the number of bus trips is expected to be more than 770 trips/day, mainly increasing in the routes: Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang.

Based on the passenger traffic forecast, Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company plans to increase about 500 vehicles (including 250 vehicles serving routes with a distance of over 300km and 250 vehicles for routes with a distance of less than 300km). In which, Giap Bat Bus Station increased 212 vehicles; Gia Lam Bus Station increased 68 vehicles; My Dinh Bus Station increased about 220 vehicles.

The number of reinforced vehicles in both holidays will be allocated by day, each route, flexibly adjusted according to the actual situation of the passenger flow. The Company will report and propose to the Hanoi Department of Construction to issue reinforced vehicle badges to serve the transportation of vehicles in accordance with regulations; implement the issuance of reinforcement orders to the right subjects, ensuring convenience and shortening the departure time for vehicles.

The company has proactively developed contingency plans, signed contracts with car rental units, and prepared vehicles to relieve passengers in emergencies when the increased number of vehicles of units cannot meet the needs of passengers or in cases where vehicles on the route cannot arrive in time due to traffic congestion.

Proactively develop contingency plans, strictly control fares

Also according to a representative of Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, during peak season, it will coordinate with the Bus Operation Center of Hanoi Transport Corporation to develop a plan to increase the frequency and number of trips, promptly serving passengers to the station to enter the inner city and vice versa.

Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company will closely coordinate with functional forces, strengthen inspection and supervision, tighten discipline in the implementation of regulations and rules on transportation and ensure the quality of passenger service of transport units; resolutely prevent the situation of overloaded vehicles selling tickets at prices higher than regulations; promptly detect and handle cases of vehicles and drivers without full papers or invalid papers.

Due to the impact of gasoline and oil price fluctuations and the characteristics of passenger flow increasing in one direction, and in the opposite direction being deserted, transport enterprises tend to adjust fares to compensate for costs. Therefore, Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company requests units to strengthen the supervision of declaration and adjustment of ticket prices during holidays, ensuring compliance with current regulations. "In particular, the bus station absolutely does not allow the situation of overloaded vehicles selling tickets at prices higher than registered prices to occur; inspect and urge transport units to sell tickets to passengers according to regulations," Mr. Hung affirmed.
