At the new Mien Dong Bus Station, the number of passengers during the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival and the April 30 - January 1 holiday of 2026 is expected to increase by about 10% compared to the same period last year, mainly concentrated on routes from Ho Chi Minh City to the Central Highlands and Central regions.
From April 24 to May 3, the station is expected to serve nearly 97,000 passengers, especially during the peak days of April 29 and 30, it may reach about 19,000 passengers/day. Representatives of the bus station informed that they will closely monitor the passenger and vehicle traffic situation on each route to proactively coordinate and increase vehicles to serve, avoiding congestion. In case the demand increases suddenly beyond transport capacity, the station will coordinate to mobilize maximum vehicles, including fixed-route vehicles and contract vehicles, to promptly relieve passengers.
Transport businesses are required to declare and list fares publicly and transparently. The maximum adjustment of 40% is applied during the 3 peak days from April 29 to May 1 for routes from Da Nang inwards to Dong Nai and the Mekong Delta region.
At the old Mien Dong Bus Station (Binh Thanh ward), the number of passengers during the holiday is forecast to reach nearly 63,000. Ticket prices here are also allowed to increase by no more than 40% during the same peak period.
In the western region, Mien Tay Bus Station is expected to serve more than 250,000 passengers during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, an increase of more than 3% compared to the same period in 2025. April 30 was identified as the peak with about 69,500 passengers. Ticket prices here also increased by no more than 40% compared to normal days in 3 days from April 29 to May 1. The bus station has developed a plan to transfer vehicles from low-passenger routes to crowded routes, and at the same time increase bus connections and coordinate with localities to limit traffic congestion.
Not only roads, rail travel demand is also increasing. The railway industry said it has sold more than 50,000 tickets during the peak period of April 30 - May 1. To serve passengers, from April 24 to May 3, the industry regularly operates 5 pairs of Unified trains every day on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, including trains SE1/2, SE3/4, SE5/6, SE7/8 and SE9/10.
Many trains are increased such as train SE12 departing from Saigon station on April 24, 25, 28 and 29; train SE11 departing from Hanoi on April 26, 27, 30 and 1. The regional routes such as Hanoi - Da Nang, Saigon - Da Nang, Saigon - Nha Trang, Saigon - Phan Thiet... are also supplemented with more trips to meet demand.
