Quang Tri - Heavy rain and floodwaters caused cows to move up to high trees. The group went to the riverbank to catch the goods, but were isolated by floodwaters, and had to wait for rescue forces to rescue them.

On the evening of November 3, Mr. Tran Thanh Bac - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hieu Giang commune (Quang Tri province) said that rescue forces and localities have coordinated to successfully rescue a group of people isolated by floodwaters.

Accordingly, on the afternoon of November 3, 4 people residing in Hieu Giang commune went fishing and gathering on the riverbank when the floodwaters rose, unable to get to shore. The location of the incident was in the Hieu River area in An Thai village, Hieu Giang commune.

After receiving the report, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area No. 1 (under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police) coordinated with Hieu Giang Commune Police to organize the rescue. At around 7:00 p.m. the same day, the forces had brought all 4 people safely to shore.

In addition to the above 4 cases, there are 2 more cases in Hieu Giang commune who were trapped in a communal house because the floodwaters rose rapidly. The People's Committee of Hieu Giang commune mobilized the shock team of Dau Binh village to rescue and bring the two cases safely to shore.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Bac, in response to the forecast of heavy rain, in the afternoon of the same day, the police forces of Hieu Giang commune and the locality propagated and asked people not to go to the river and flooded areas to catch people fishing. However, many cases of non-compliance and recklessness into the river led to the above incident.

"The situation of people going to the river to catch fish during floods has been warned and propagated, but some people do not comply. We will take corrective measures in the coming time" - Mr. Tran Thanh Bac said.
