Lang Son - A large piece of mortar suddenly fell off at the Surgery Department, Provincial General Hospital at noon on May 27 when the patient was being treated.

On the evening of May 27, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, BSCKII Truong Quy Truong - Director of Lang Son Provincial General Hospital confirmed that an incident of peeling plaster in the treatment area had just occurred at the hospital.

According to the reflection of Mr. Duong Van Vinh - a patient's family member taking care of relatives on the 3rd floor, Department of Surgery, at about 11:30 am on the same day, a large piece of plaster from the wall and ceiling area suddenly fell into the gap between the two hospital beds, near the right door of the room.

At the time of the incident, there were more than 10 people in the room, including patients and family members.

The incident caused a woman lying on the bed next door to be hit in the head by a piece of rubble, requiring 5 stitches. Many people in the room panicked and quickly ran out because they were worried that the construction would continue to collapse.

Luckily, at that time, my father and I were not in the correct position where the plaster fell. If we were sleeping, the consequences could have been more serious," Mr. Vinh said.

Immediately after the incident, medical staff were present to give first aid to the injured, transfer the patient to another room and proceed to clean up the scene.

Providing information about the incident, the leader of Lang Son Provincial General Hospital said that this was an incident of peeling plaster in the area next to the wall, falling through the plaster ceiling, not a collapse of the floor or serious structural damage.

According to a hospital representative, the unit has urgently handled the scene, ensuring safety for patients and medical staff, and will continue to review all degraded items to have repair and renovation plans in the near future.

Previously, at a working session with the Department of Health and Lang Son Provincial General Hospital, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and Lang Son Provincial People's Committee mentioned the plan to consider and approve the plan to renovate and upgrade the hospital's facilities to overcome the degradation situation, supplement equipment, expand treatment space and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
