Chu Van An Street is about 2 km long, one of the main roads in Binh Thanh District, connecting major roads. Currently, there is still a 600 m "bottleneck" section, making it difficult for people to travel.
Faced with that situation, Ho Chi Minh City has decided to spend more than 1,000 billion VND to renovate a 600m section of Chu Van An Street.
According to Lao Dong's records on December 6, on Chu Van An Street from Binh Hoa intersection to Phan Chu Trinh Street, many houses have dismantled the part within the road boundary, moved back about 6 meters to hand over the land for road expansion.

According to Ms. D.T.Y. (residing in Binh Thanh District), a part of the vacant land awaiting road expansion construction was occupied as a place to dump garbage and scrap, causing a loss of urban beauty. "The local government cannot be on duty continuously to check this, even though there are signs "no dumping" but many people still litter, dump debris and scrap here," Ms. Y. said.
Living near this area, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Uyen (Binh Thanh District resident) said: “The pile of garbage appeared very large, then the authorities came to clean it up. But after a few days, someone without awareness came to litter again. There are many places, on this road there is an empty lot, people litter. The most important thing is still the awareness of the people.”

According to Ms. Uyen, this road is often congested and flooded when it rains, making it difficult for people to travel. “People also agree with the road expansion, so they proactively retreated further to hand over the land for the project. I hope the road will be completed soon so that people can travel and do business more conveniently,” Ms. Uyen said.
According to the representative of Ward 12 People's Committee, in December, the locality will hand over the vacant land to the construction unit of the Chu Van An Street expansion project and the construction unit will fence it off. Only then can the situation of indiscriminate garbage collection be limited.

According to records, the current status of Chu Van An Street is not uniform and is divided into many small sections. The section from Binh Hoa intersection to Phan Chu Trinh is about 600 m long, the road is narrow, has continuous turns, and houses rise and fall unevenly.
The section from Phan Chu Trinh to Dinh Bo Linh has been expanded, with relatively complete traffic infrastructure.
The last section from Dinh Bo Linh Street to the Martyrs' Monument intersection (Xo Viet Nghe Tinh - Ung Van Khiem - National Highway 13 - Nguyen Xi) is blocked at the end, interrupted by houses.

The Chu Van An Street upgrade and expansion project is expected to be completed in 2026, not only having traffic significance but also solving flooding problems in many areas along this route.
The project will build a new sewer system along both sides of the sidewalk with a length of about 600 m (from Binh Hoa intersection to Chu Van An bridge). The final section of the route will be designed with a 2x2 m box culvert connecting to the existing longitudinal sewer system to ensure drainage.
A 200-meter long section connecting to the Martyrs' Monument intersection has not been invested in construction, causing this road to be cut off and making it difficult for people to travel.
To resolve this situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee include the project to open a new section of Chu Van An Street extending to Dai Liet Si intersection in the list of key traffic projects that need to be prioritized for implementation in the 2024-2030 period. The total investment for this project is estimated at more than VND560 billion, from the city's budget.
