The above information is stated in the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport sent to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the operation, exploitation and maintenance of Metro Line 1.
According to the report, during the operation of Metro Line 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) and Urban Railway Company Limited No. 1 (HURC) recorded 5 main incidents.
December 26, 2024 (18:30): Train No.700 sent a false warning signal at Ba Son station.
December 27, 2024 (from 5:25 p.m. to 7:00 p.m): The storm caused a power outage in the Rach Chiec - Binh Thai section, causing the entire route to temporarily stop operating for 2 hours.
January 5, 2025: Signal problems caused 141/200 trains to be delayed, including 18 departures and 123 return trips.
January 14, 2025 (17:00): Heavy rain caused 3 trains to slip when entering the station, causing 5 trains to temporarily stop for 30 minutes. In addition, the electronic gate system (PSD) at the High-Tech Park Station and Suoi Tien Station had a problem.
January 25, 2025 (1518): Ship No. 1505 was forced to stop due to passengers obstructing the ship's doors.

To handle the above incidents, MAUR has coordinated with relevant units to deploy many solutions.
Regarding the signal incident at Ba Son station: Request congestor Hitachi and HURC Company to check, determine the cause and strengthen monitoring of the signal system. At the same time, train staff to handle situations more quickly.
For lightning outages: Review the lightning protection system, evaluate the power system design and develop a response scenario when there is a power outage.
For the incident of a chip missed due to heavy rain: Request Hitachi to investigate the cause and adjust the train braking system to suit the weather conditions in Vietnam.
Some minor errors such as escalators, lighting, cooling systems (Chillers) and electronic payments have also been promptly fixed.
Regarding the cashless payment system, Metro No. 1 is currently waiting for the completion of Hitachi's ticket collection system, expected to operate in May 2025.
During the waiting period, HURC has coordinated with Mastercard to implement cashless payments.
However, most passengers still buy tickets in cash or by card flashing at the counter (over 50%), causing waiting time at the station to be long.
Some technical errors at the ticket gate also affect the speed of passengers.
Currently, the payment system has been connected to Mastercard cards and banks in the NAPAS system, but has not yet completed the connection to other international cards such as VISA, AMEX, JCB, UPI.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport recommends that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assign MAUR and HURC Company to promptly resolve the problems in the acceptance record of the State Search and Rescue Council on acceptance of construction works and implement the opinion of the Railway Department to ensure safety and stable operation of Metro Line 1.
At the same time, additional roofs were installed at the entrance and exit of Ba Son Station No. 1 on Ton Duc Thang Street (District 1) to avoid flooding due to rain.
Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway project in Ho Chi Minh City, officially put into commercial operation from December 22, 2024.
The route is 19.7km long, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Thu Duc City, passing through Districts 1, Binh Thanh, and Thu Duc City.
After 30 days of free experience, from January 21, 2025, Metro Line 1 will start collecting passenger fees.
After two months of operation, Metro Line 1 has organized 11,776 trains, transporting 4.6 million passengers, reaching 194% of the plan.
