On the afternoon of January 14, Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) had to temporarily suspend operations due to technical problems arising from rainy weather conditions. The incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m. the same day and lasted for more than half an hour, affecting the travel schedule of passengers.
Mr. Le Minh Triet, Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC 1), confirmed this information. Accordingly, the reason for the temporary suspension of operations was due to a technical problem. By nearly 6:00 p.m. the same day, the problem was resolved and the metro line returned to normal operation.
To inform passengers, HURC 1 updated information on the HCMC Metro software at 5:58 p.m. with the following content: “Dear customers, the Metro line has resumed normal operation after a temporary suspension due to technical reasons in bad weather conditions to ensure safety. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
This is not the first time Metro Line 1 has encountered an incident since it officially began commercial operations on December 22, 2024. Previously, on December 26, 2024, a similar incident occurred in heavy rain, causing the train to stop for about 10 minutes.
Currently, Metro Line 1 operates from 5am to 10pm daily with a frequency of 200 trains. During the first month of operation, passengers are exempted from fares when traveling by metro and 17 connecting electric bus routes.
