The Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) said that due to prolonged heavy rain causing flooding across many Central provinces, by the morning of November 17, the unit had proactively cut off power to nearly 31,000 households and customers to ensure the safety of people and electrical equipment.
In Quang Tri province, major floods caused more than 2,700 customers to lose power. There are 45 distribution stations that had to be cleared due to flooding. Many areas are still isolated, making it difficult to access them for inspection and repair.
Hue city is significantly affected. Nearly 12,000 customers and 65 distribution stations were fired due to many roads and residential areas being deeply flooded. The electricity industry must continuously reinforce safety measures to avoid electrical leaks and incidents.
In Da Nang, heavy rain caused flooding in many places, causing more than 12,000 customers to lose power. More than 300 distribution transformer stations were affected. Technical forces were deployed to be on duty to handle when the water receded.
In Gia Lai and Dak Lak, more than 2,700 customers and some distribution stations had to cut off electricity due to flooding. The local electricity industry warned people not to enter the area of power stations and flooded power lines.
In Khanh Hoa alone, Khanh Hoa Power Company had to release the entire Du Long Industrial Park station. This affects 5 enterprises in the region.
The remaining localities have not had to cut off electricity. However, EVNCPC said it is closely monitoring the development of floods. Proactive power outages will be implemented as soon as there is a risk of unsafety, prioritizing the protection of people's lives and minimizing equipment damage.
The Central Power Industry recommends that people check their electrical systems in their homes, do not touch damp equipment and report immediately when detecting a risk of insecurity.
