Recently, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention - Hanoi City Police has received a number of cases related to fraud and property appropriation through inviting investment in fake securities applications.
According to the victim's reflection, the tricks of the subjects often start by inviting them to participate in groups of "story investment study" on Telegram and Zalo platforms. After that, the victim was instructed to install an application called AJB DIRECT - a fake application designed with a nearly real simulation interface, fully displaying indicators such as VN-Index, VN30-Index, HNX-Index similar to traditional stock exchanges.
To create trust, the subjects impersonated stock consultants, giving specific comments about "hot" stock codes, inviting victims to experiment with trading under "up and down orders". Not stopping there, the subjects also lured players to buy internal stock codes (ESOP, IPO) of large enterprises... with unusually high profit commitments.
A typical case is Ms. H (residing in Hanoi) being "closed" to invest 4 billion VND in a stock code with a profit commitment of up to 777% (equivalent to 7.77 billion VND). However, after discovering unusual signs and not being able to withdraw money, Ms. H's account was deleted by the subjects, removed from the chat group and all communication was blocked.
Notably, the entire transaction process is staged using simulation techniques through applications and websites created by the subjects. The victim's account continuously displayed "virtual" profits to create trust and lure them to continue depositing money.
Hanoi City Police warn people not to invest or buy and sell securities through websites and applications of unknown origin, especially platforms that promise unusually high profits.
When detecting signs of fraud, people need to proactively notify the nearest police agency for receipt, investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.
