Tan Hai Ward Party Committee (HCMC) has just sent a document to the Standing Committee of Long Son Commune Party Committee on exchanging opinions on merging to form a new administrative unit.
The document clearly states that, through assessment and discussion in Tan Hai ward, 100% of opinions agreed to continue to maintain the stability of administrative units, not to consolidate with other localities in the current period, and there has been a report sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Previously, the Party Committee of Long Son commune had a document exchanging opinions with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Tan Hai ward, recognizing the case of Long Son commune and Tan Hai ward merging into a new administrative unit, with the goal of forming a unified Long Son - Tan Hai development space with an area of about 108.36 km2 and a population of about 50,000 people, meeting the conditions to form a stable administrative unit, and together with other administrative units to establish a special economic zone associated with Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster in the future.
According to the Party Committee of Tan Hai ward, the organizational structure after arrangement is gradually stabilizing; the ward has its own orientation and development potential and has proposed to integrate it into the general plan of Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the merger of Long Son commune and Tan Hai ward at the present time is not really necessary.
The goal of strengthening linkages and expanding development space between Long Son and Tan Hai does not necessarily have to be achieved by merging administrative units; instead, the two localities can continue to strengthen coordination and linkage in planning, infrastructure development, connecting transportation, marine economy, trade - services, ensuring national defense - security, environmental protection and areas with common advantages. From there, promote the effectiveness of the Long Son - Tan Hai linkage space while still ensuring the stability of each administrative unit.
Through records, many localities in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City such as Long Hai, Vung Tau... have also held meetings, unanimously proposing not to merge commune-level administrative units, maintaining the current status as it is.
