Hail and tornadoes cause damage in border commune of Son La

Son La - At about 7 pm on May 1, in Phieng Khoai commune, there was hailstorm accompanied by strong winds, causing damage to houses and crops of people.

On May 2nd, Mr. Tran Nam Trung, Chairman of Phieng Khoai Commune People's Committee, informed that hail and tornadoes on the evening of May 1st directly affected 2 villages Bo Sinh and Pao Cua.

Regarding housing, 24 households in 4 villages Ai 1, Pao Cua, Bo Sinh and Keo Muong were affected. Many houses had their roofs blown off and 598 fibro cement roofing sheets broken. Mr. Mua A Lenh's house (Pao Cua village) was heavily damaged. Total damage to houses is estimated at 152.89 million VND.

The total area of hậu plums damaged is about 1.5ha, with an estimated output of 5 tons. With an average price of 15,000 VND/kg, the damage is about 75 million VND.

Immediately after the natural disaster, the commune government mobilized forces, coordinated with Chieng On Border Guard Station to support people to overcome the consequences and repair houses.

Currently, the locality continues to statistically assess damage, implement support measures, and help people soon stabilize their lives and production.
