At about 3:45 pm on March 29, in the areas of Chau Hanh, Tan Lac (old), now belonging to Quy Chau commune, Nghe An province, people recorded a thunderstorm coming after nearly a day of hot and sultry weather.
During the thunderstorm, hail rain poured down for nearly 10 minutes with many different sizes, including large stones.
Ms. Luong Nga (resident of Quy Chau commune) said: "We were in the house when we heard a crackling sound on the corrugated iron roof, looking out we saw white ice rain. Many ice rain lumps were as big as big toes, no one dared to go out at that time.

According to people, due to the short duration of ice rain and the not too large particle size, significant property damage has not been recorded.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the afternoon and evening of March 29, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 50mm.
In thunderstorms, the meteorological agency warns of the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
In fact, hail and tornadoes often appear in the western mountainous communes of Nghe An during the seasonal transition from March to May every year, causing damage to houses and crops in recent years.
