According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 24-48 hours, the tropical convergence zone will have its axis through the South Central Coast, connecting to the low pressure area in the East Sea, and is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression or storm. The Southwest monsoon operates with moderate intensity, then gradually strengthens. Wind convergence continues to operate well in the area.
In the next 3-10 days, the intertropical convergence zone tends to raise its axis to the North. Southwest monsoons maintain intensity from moderate to strong. From September 13-14, the southern branch of subtropical high pressure will encroach westward, with its axis passing through the South China Sea area; around September 17, this system will weaken and gradually move southward.
From 1:00 PM on September 11th to 1:00 PM on September 13th, Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and cities are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places, with a common total rainfall of 70-150 mm, in some places over 170 mm.
The water level at most stations on the Saigon River continues to rise according to the high tide period at the beginning of August of the lunar calendar in the next 2-3 days, then slowly recedes. The highest tide peak is expected to appear on September 12-13, i.e., on the 2-3rd day of August of the lunar calendar.
At Phu An and Nha Be stations, the water level may be approximately and lower than alarm level II by about 0.05 m. At Thu Dau Mot station, the water level may reach approximately alarm level III.
The highest tide peak appears around 5am-7am and 5pm-7pm.
The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain combined with high tides may cause flooding in low-lying areas and riverside areas, affecting traffic and socio-economic activities in Ho Chi Minh City.
