On September 12, Hue City Hydrometeorological Station said that moderate to heavy rain on National Highway 49 caused landslides, soil and rocks overflowing onto the road surface, and at times traffic jams.
According to a quick report from Thua Thien Hue Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company, at about 3:23 pm on September 12, on National Highway 49 passing through Hue City, a positive taluy landslide occurred at 2 locations Km67+800 and Km75+830.
The total volume of landslide soil and rock is about 150m3, spilling onto the road surface, causing traffic jams. In addition, soil and rock also filled ditches with a length of about 50m.
The route management unit said that the weather on National Highway 49 had moderate to heavy rain. Initial records show that the landslide did not cause any casualties or damage to vehicles.
Immediately after the incident occurred, Thua Thien Hue Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company directed the Road Management Units to fully arrange the system of barriers, signs, warning signs, and at the same time deploy personnel and equipment to clear soil and rocks, clear and divert traffic, ensuring traffic.
It is known that the landslide disrupted traffic for about 30 minutes, after which the route was cleared.
The volume of landslides is continuing to be inspected and statistically analyzed on the route by the unit for updating, summarizing and reporting.
From September 11 to 15, Hue City is forecast to have moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places.
This rainfall is concentrated most strongly from September 12 to 14 with a common total rainfall of 250 - 400 mm, in some places over 500 mm.
