On the morning of August 22, in an exchange with reporters, Ms. La Thi Hong - Vice Chairwoman of Ky Lua Ward People's Committee, Lang Son province, said that heavy rain caused the entire area of Gieng Vuong market, one of the largest wholesale markets in the urban center of Lang Son, to be flooded, affecting business operations and property of small traders.
From about 4:30 am on the same day, local authorities and functional forces were present, urgently supporting people to move goods and belongings to safe places.


About 200 military officers and soldiers and more than 50 police officers and soldiers were mobilized to participate in the rescue.
Ky Lua Ward also mobilized all officials and civil servants to the scene, supporting small traders to protect property, ensure safety and overcome the consequences of flooding. Currently, the relocation of people and property is still being implemented," Ms. Hong said.

In Luong Van Tri ward, rising water caused flooding at Thac Tra underground, the area of Tran Quang Khai 2 block and Na Bang underground belonging to Doan Ket block (old Quang Lien 3 block).
Luong Van Tri Ward Police warned that the area of Tran Nhat Duat street, belonging to Cua Bac block, near the bank of the Ky Cung River, is experiencing high water levels.


Households living in this area are advised to regularly monitor water levels and proactively move people and property when requested.
In Thong Nhat commune, heavy rain caused some spillways to be locally flooded, and landslides occurred on many roads, causing traffic jams.
In Dinh Lap commune, serious landslides occurred on the road near the Nong Truong area. On provincial road 236 leading to Chi Ma border gate, green trees were broken and fallen in many locations, blocking the road and affecting traffic. Landslide points and fallen trees were then handled by functional forces.

Prolonged rain also caused landslides in Ba Son commune, affecting 3 households. In Ban Ranh village, one household was landslide, and 5 other households were isolated due to strong currents.
According to Lang Son Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, on August 22, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and widespread thunderstorms in the province due to the influence of the intertropical convergence zone connected to the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm.

Common rainfall is from 40-100mm, locally over 150mm, posing a risk of flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas. Flash floods and landslides may occur in steep slopes; thunderstorms are likely to occur with tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Functional agencies recommend that people limit movement when it rains heavily; absolutely do not go through spillways when water rises, do not collect firewood or fish on rivers and streams; regularly monitor weather warnings to proactively ensure safety.
