On August 21, heavy to very heavy rain appeared in Lang Son province. Prolonged rain caused many roads and residential areas in the central urban area to be locally flooded, affecting people's travel and daily life.
On the same evening, the Military Command of Dong Kinh ward received a report from the family of Ms. Chu Thi Vung and Mr. Lang Van Tu about floodwaters overflowing into their houses. At the time functional forces approached, the house was flooded about 0.4 m.

Immediately after that, 8 officers and soldiers coordinated with local forces and people to support bringing family members out, and at the same time moving property to a safe place.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in 24 hours, from 6 pm on August 20 to 6 pm on August 21, many areas in Lang Son recorded moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places. At Ban Chat station, the measured rainfall reached 131.8 mm.

The soil moisture model shows that some areas in the province have nearly saturated, with moisture levels above 85%, or reaching saturation.
In the next 6 hours, the locality is forecast to continue to have rain with common rainfall of 20-40 mm, in some places over 70 mm.
There are 52 communes and wards located in the flash flood, landslide and subsidence risk warning area, including: Dinh Lap, Kien Moc, Chi Lang, Cong Son, Huu Lung, Khuat Xa, Loc Binh, Loi Bac, Mau Son, Na Duong, Dong Kinh, Ky Lua, Tan Thanh, Thong Nhat, Van Nham, Xuan Duong, Ba Son, Bac Son, Bang Mac, Binh Gia, Cai Kinh, Cao Loc, Chau Son, Chien Thang, Diem He, Dong Dang, Hoang Van Thu, Hoi Hoan, Hong Phong, Hung Vu, Huu Lien, Khanh Khe, Na Sam, Nhan Ly, Nhat Hoa, Luong Van Tri, Tam Thanh, Quan Son, Tan Doan, Tan Tri, Tan Van, Thai Binh, Thien Long, Thien Tan, Tuan Son, Van Lang, Van Linh, Van Quan, Vu Lang, Vu Le, Yen Binh and Yen Phuc.
