Widespread heavy rain on the morning of July 29 caused localized flooding on some roads in Hanoi. Functional forces have urgently operated a series of pumping stations to drain water and limit the impact on traffic.
According to the Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center, the rain started from about 5:15 am on July 29 and lasted over a wide area. By 6:30 am on the same day, rainfall in many areas reached a high level.
In which, Phu Xuyen commune recorded the largest rainfall with 70.7mm, followed by Yen So ward 67.8mm, Bo De ward 55.7mm and Ba Dinh ward 48.7mm. In Hoan Kiem, Long Bien, Phu Thuong, Vinh Thanh areas..., the common rainfall is from 35-47mm.

Heavy rain right at the morning rush hour caused some roads to experience water overflowing onto the road surface or localized flooding. Points such as Co Linh street, alley 42 Giang Van Minh, Nguyen Gia Bong street and Thuy Khue street recorded impacts on people's travel.
By 8 am, the water at the flooded points on Co Linh street and Thuy Khue street had basically receded, and traffic returned to normal. The area of Nguyen Gia Bong street and alley 42 Giang Van Minh still had light water stagnation.
Right from 5 am, the Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center coordinated with Hanoi Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company and related units to deploy on-duty forces at key locations. Drainage workers were mobilized to collect garbage at collection stations, open the drainage gates of regulating lakes and operate maximum capacity of key pumping stations to increase drainage capacity.

Yen So pumping station operates 9/20 units; Co Nhue pumping station operates 2/4 pumps; Dong Bong 1 pumping station operates all 3/3 pumps; Dong Tep pumping station operates 2/2 pumps; Cau Nga 1 and Cau Nga 3 pumping stations operate 1-2 pumps for drainage.
Notably, the rain in the morning of July 29 showed the initial effectiveness of newly put into operation emergency flood control projects. Many areas that used to frequently experience flooding such as Thang Long Avenue, Ecohome - Dong Ngac area and Quang Trung road (Ha Dong) did not record flooding.
By 7:00 AM on the same day, some areas such as Hoang Mai and Yen So continued to have heavy rain. Functional forces continued to closely monitor the scene, maintain the operation of pumping stations, clear the flow and be ready to respond to the next rains.
