Hanoi Technical Infrastructure Management Center has just issued a press release on the drainage situation during the rain on the afternoon of July 27.
Accordingly, due to the influence of the southern edge of the low pressure trough combined with wind convergence, from about 11 am on July 27, widespread thunderstorms occurred in Hanoi city.
By 11:30 on the same day, the measured rainfall in the areas ranged from 40mm to 60mm: Ba Dinh (1A Tran Vu): 61.9mm; Hoan Kiem (110 Nguyen Huu Huan): 42mm; Tay Ho: 38.5mm…
As soon as it rained, the Hanoi Technical Infrastructure Management Center requested Hanoi Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company and drainage maintenance units to deploy forces and vehicles to be on duty at key locations; collect garbage, clean collection stations, clear flow, operate drainage gates, main pumping stations and local pumping stations to lower water levels on the system, serving drainage.
Due to heavy rain concentrated in a short time of about 50mm in 30 minutes (equivalent to intensity of about 100mm/h), exceeding the collection and local drainage capacity of the system. Therefore, during the rain, some flooded road surface points appeared in Hanoi such as Hoe Nhai, Phan Huy Ich - Nguyen Truong To, Nguyen Thai Hoc, La Pho slope - Thuy Khue, alley 42 Giang Van Minh.
In particular, the La Pho - Thuy Khue slope area was flooded about 20-25cm, the area of lane 42 Giang Van Minh connecting with lane 100 Doi Can was flooded about 35-40cm.
After the rain ended for about 30 minutes, from about 11:35 to 12:05, the localized flooding points on the road surface basically receded.
Especially in the area of alley 42 Giang Van Minh connecting to alley 100 Doi Can, the water receded slowly, the flooding depth was about 35-40cm, causing difficulties for people and vehicles to travel, by 3 pm, the flooding depth was about 5-7cm.
The Center has requested the People's Committees of Tay Ho and Ngoc Ha wards to be the units assigned to manage the alley drainage system according to decentralization, responsible for proactively implementing measures to ensure alley drainage and inspecting and urging units maintaining alley drainage to dredge the system, arrange mobile pumps at flooded points; urging investors to implement projects such as the Investment - Infrastructure Project Management Board of the ward, Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to accelerate the construction progress to complete projects, and have drainage measures to ensure drainage when it rains in the area of alley 42 Giang Van Minh, La Pho - Thuy Khue slope.
At the same time, the Hanoi Technical Infrastructure Management Center continues to request the city's drainage units to coordinate and support the Ward People's Committee, alley drainage units, project investors... to clear the flow and force pumping to quickly resolve the remaining flooding points mentioned above.
Currently, the Center continues to request Hanoi Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company and drainage maintenance units to arrange forces to closely monitor the scene to clean up and clear the flow; maintain the operation of key pumping stations and reservoir pumping stations to lower the water level on the system to proactively respond to the next rains.
