Water levels at many hydropower reservoirs across the country continue to fluctuate in an upward trend, especially at large reservoirs in the Northern region.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 10:30 am on May 20, in the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake had an upstream water level at an elevation of 108.42 m, water inflow to the lake reached 354 m3/s, total discharge volume 681.22 m3/s through the plant.

The Northwest region recorded a sharp increase in inflow to the reservoir. Son La Lake has a water level of 200.89 m, inflow of 554 m3/s, total discharge output of 3,054 m3/s.

Hoa Binh Lake continues to be the lake with the largest flow, water entering the lake reaches 3,615 m3/s, total discharge through the plant is 2,843 m3/s. Thac Ba Lake discharges 294.4 m3/s, while Lai Chau, Ban Chat, and Huoi Quang maintain high water levels but have not discharged.

In the North Central region, Trung Son reservoir has a flow rate of 247 m3/s and discharges 80 m3/s; Khe Bo reservoir discharges 168.8 m3/s even though the flow rate to the reservoir is only 2.1 m3/s. Ban Ve and Quang Tri reservoirs have not yet recorded discharge.

In the South Central region, many hydropower reservoirs are operating to generate electricity with small flow rates. Song Tranh 2 discharges 107.5 m3/s; Song Ba Ha discharges 120 m3/s; A Vuong discharges 27.6 m3/s; Song Bung 4 discharges 41 m3/s. Vinh Son B and Vinh Son C reservoirs do not discharge.

In the Central Highlands, some notable power generation reservoirs include Ialy 398 m3/s, Se San 4 discharging 320 m3/s, Se San 3 discharging 42 m3/s and Thuong Kon Tum discharging 26.58 m3/s. Many other reservoirs in the area have not yet discharged.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 20, in the Southeast region, Tri An Lake recorded a flow to the lake of 370 m3/s, with a total discharge through the plant of 116 m3/s.

The Northeast region, Phu Tho South, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with locally very heavy rain.

The Central Highlands and Southern regions will have showers and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and night, with locally heavy to very heavy rain.
