Many large hydropower reservoirs in the North are lower than the normal water level, and power plants are increasing power generation to serve the load demand of the hot season.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 8:00 am on May 26, in the Northwest region, Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir recorded the largest water inflow to the reservoir in the country with 1,971m3/s, the upstream water level at an elevation of 104.57m, 12.43m lower than the normal water level. Total discharge flow reached 2,780m3/s, all through the plant.

Son La Hydropower Reservoir has a water inflow rate of 1,086m3/s, total discharge rate of 823m3/s. The reservoir water level is at a height of 196.52m, nearly 18.5m lower than the normal water level.

In the Southeast region, Tri An hydropower reservoir continues to maintain high water flow, reaching 210m3/s. The total discharge through the plant is at 604m3/s.

In the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir has a water inflow rate of 219m3/s, while the total discharge rate is more than 711m3/s.

In the group of reservoirs in the North Central region, Khe Bo hydropower reservoir has the largest inflow with nearly 294m3/s, total discharge flow 436.9m3/s. Ban Ve Hydropower reservoir recorded inflow 64m3/s, total discharge flow 26m3/s.

In the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands, most reservoirs have low water flow. Some reservoirs are near the dead water level such as Huoi Quang Hydropower Plant at an elevation of 368.92m, only slightly higher than the dead water level by less than 1m; Da Mi Hydropower Plant reaches 324.69m, close to the normal water level of 325m.

Notably, some reservoirs are operating discharging through spillways, including An Khe Hydropower with a spillway discharge flow of 8m3/s and 1 open surface discharge gate; Srepok 3 Hydropower discharges 0.8m3/s through 2 deep discharge gates; Buon Kuop Hydropower discharges 15.42m3/s through 1 deep discharge gate.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 26, the Northern Delta region, Phu Tho and from Thanh Hoa to Hue City will have intense and especially intense heat with the highest temperature commonly 38 - 40 degrees C, with some places above 40 degrees C.

Other places in the North (except Dien Bien and Lai Chau), Da Nang city and eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Lam Dong have hot and intense heat, especially intense in some places with the highest temperature commonly 36 - 38 degrees C, in some places above 40 degrees C.
