Many hydropower reservoirs across the country continue to be lower than the normal water level, while power plants maintain power generation to serve the needs of the power system.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 3:00 PM on May 23, in the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir at 5:00 PM on May 22, the upstream water level reached 107.79m, the water flow to the reservoir was 611m3/s, and the total discharge through the plant was more than 689m3/s.

In the Northwest, large reservoirs continue to operate with high power generation flows. Son La Hydropower Reservoir recorded a water level of 198.62m, water inflow to the reservoir reached 1,439m3/s and total discharge of 2,272m3/s. Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir at an altitude of 105.05m, water inflow to the reservoir reached 2,843m3/s, total discharge of 2,836m3/s.

In this area, Lai Chau Hydropower reservoir has a water level of 290.99m; Huoi Quang Hydropower reached 369.66m, approaching the normal water level of 370m.

Ban Chat Hydropower Lake currently has a low water flow to the lake, only about 70m3/s.

In the North Central region, Trung Son Hydropower reservoir has a water level of 157.65m; Ban Ve Hydropower reached 181.95m, total discharge volume 331m3/s. Khe Bo Hydropower reservoir continues to operate for power generation with a total discharge flow of more than 434m3/s.

In the South Central Coast, most reservoirs do not discharge overflows, mainly discharging through power plants. Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Reservoir has a total discharge volume of 215m3/s; Song Ba Ha Hydropower discharges 326m3/s.

The Central Highlands region recorded some reservoirs with large discharge flows such as Ialy Hydropower with a total discharge volume of 446m3/s; Se San 3 Hydropower discharged 486m3/s and Se San 3A Hydropower discharged 533m3/s.

Notably, some reservoirs have discharged through spillways. An Khe Hydropower Reservoir discharges 8m3/s and opens 1 surface discharge gate. Buon Kuop Hydropower Reservoir discharges 15.77m3/s through spillways, and opens 1 deep discharge gate.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 23, the Northern region will have hot sun, with intense heat in some places with the highest temperature commonly 35 - 37 degrees C, in some places above 37 degrees C.

The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will have hot and intense heat with the highest temperature commonly 36 - 38 degrees C, in some places above 38 degrees C.
