According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 3:00 PM on May 23, in the Northwest region, Lai Chau Hydropower reservoir recorded a water level of 290.99m, water inflow to the reservoir reached 332m3/s and total discharge volume of 640m3/s.
Ban Chat Hydropower Lake currently has a water level of 439.94m, about 35m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the lake is low, reaching about 70m3/s and has not been discharged.
Meanwhile, the Huoi Quang Hydropower reservoir has a water level of 369.66m, approaching the normal water level of 370m. The water flow to the reservoir reaches 28m3/s and has not generated discharge flow.
Two large hydropower reservoirs on the Da River continue to operate with high power generation flow. Son La Hydropower Reservoir has an upstream water level of 198.62m, water inflow to the reservoir reaches 1,439m3/s, total discharge through the plant is 2,272m3/s.
At the same time, Hoa Binh Hydropower reservoir recorded a water level of 105.05m, nearly 12m lower than the normal water level of 117m. The inflow to the reservoir reached 2,843m3/s, while the total discharge through the plant was 2,836m3/s.
For Thac Ba Hydropower Reservoir, the current water level reaches 51.3m, the water flow to the reservoir is about 180m3/s and the total discharge through the plant is more than 453m3/s.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 23, the Northern region will have hot sun, with intense heat in some places with the highest temperature commonly 35 - 37 degrees C, in some places above 37 degrees C.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will have hot and intense heat with the highest temperature commonly 36 - 38 degrees C, in some places above 38 degrees C.
