Hydropower reservoirs in the Central and Central Highlands maintain below normal water levels, many reservoirs operate stably, mainly discharging water through plants to serve power generation.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 9:30 am on May 21, in the North Central region, Trung Son Hydropower Reservoir had an upstream water level of 157.52m, water inflow to the reservoir 150m3/s and total discharge through the plant at 82m3/s.

Ban Ve Hydropower Lake recorded a water level of 181.94m, water inflow to the lake reached 85m3/s and water discharge has not been carried out.

Meanwhile, Khe Bo Hydropower Reservoir is discharging 169m3/s through the plant even though the water flow to the reservoir is only at 2.4m3/s. Quang Tri Hydropower Reservoir maintains a water level of 468.78m and has not yet discharged for regulation.

In the South Central region, Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Reservoir has a water inflow rate of 44.23m3/s, with a total discharge output of 89.58m3/s. Song Ba Ha Hydropower Reservoir maintains a total discharge output of 120m3/s, equivalent to the water inflow rate of the reservoir.

Some other reservoirs such as A Vuong Hydropower Plant, Song Bung 2 Hydropower Plant and Vinh Son A Hydropower Plant continue to operate stably, and overflow has not been recorded.

In the Central Highlands, Se San 4 Hydropower Reservoir has the largest total discharge volume in the region with 480m3/s, while the inflow rate to the reservoir is only 5m3/s.

Ialy Hydropower reservoir discharges 95m3/s of electricity, while Se San 3 Hydropower reservoir maintains a total discharge rate of 180m3/s.

Notably, An Khe Hydropower reservoir is discharging 8m3/s through the spillway and opening 1 surface discharge gate. Meanwhile, Srepok 3 Hydropower reservoir opens 2 deep discharge gates with a total discharge flow of 0.8m3/s.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 21, the Northeast region, southern Lao Cai, Southern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with locally very heavy rain.

The Central Highlands and Southern regions have showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the late afternoon and evening there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
