According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 9:30 am on May 21, in the Northwest region, Hoa Binh Hydropower Lake recorded an upstream water level at an elevation of 104.99m, about 12m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the lake reached 3,317m3/s, while the total discharge flow downstream was at 2,800m3/s, all through the plant.
Son La Hydropower Lake has a water level of 199.87m, a water inflow rate of 621m3/s and a total discharge rate of 2,843m3/s.
At Lai Chau Hydropower Reservoir, the upstream water level is at 290.76m, the inflow to the reservoir reaches 465m3/s, while the discharge through the plant is 153m3/s.
The two Ban Chat Hydropower and Huoi Quang Hydropower reservoirs continue to maintain high water levels, reaching 439.39m and 369.21m respectively, and have not yet discharged water.
In the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Hydropower reservoir reached a water level of 108.04m, the water flow to the reservoir was 274m3/s, while the total discharge through the plant was at 684.34m3/s.
Meanwhile, Thac Ba Hydropower reservoir recorded a water level of 51.41m, the water inflow to the reservoir reached 268m3/s and the total discharge flow for electricity generation was at 449.05m3/s.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 21, the Northeast region, southern Lao Cai, Southern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with locally very heavy rain.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions have showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the late afternoon and evening there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
