On the afternoon of July 12, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that through monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning, convective cloud areas are developing strongly, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City and some neighboring localities.
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers and thunderstorms in many wards and communes of Ho Chi Minh City, then it is likely to expand to neighboring areas.
Common rainfall is from 5-20mm, in some places over 30mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17m/s). Heavy rain in a short time may cause localized flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
Regarding weather patterns, in the next 3-10 days, the low pressure trough through the North will continue to weaken, then around July 14-15, a new low pressure trough will form. The Southwest monsoon will gradually decrease to the average level, while the subtropical high pressure tends to encroach westward.
Due to the impact of the above weather patterns, the Southern region continues to experience showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with locally heavy rain. From around July 15, rain tends to gradually decrease.
