The Beltway 3 project, section through Ho Chi Minh City, has a total length of more than 47km, including 10 main construction packages and 4 operation packages. This is one of the city's key traffic projects.
According to Lao Dong on October 14, at the XL8 package passing through Hoc Mon district, workers and engineers are focusing on implementing construction items. Items of the XL8 package include an overpass over Nguyen Van Bua street, 2 overpasses over the canal and a highway section over 7km long, with a total package value of 1,417 billion VND.

Although construction began in July 2023, the Ring Road 3 project through Hoc Mon district has only reached 15% progress. The main reason is identified as difficulties in supplying sand materials.
The contractor representative said that the entire package needs about 1.4 million cubic meters of sand to fill the main road and the secondary roads, service roads, bypass roads, etc. "At the beginning of the period, sand was scarce, so the overall progress was slowed down. More than 120,000 cubic meters of sand have started arriving since September, the contractor is speeding up construction to make up for the past progress," the contractor representative shared.

At the construction site, workers are reinforcing the weak ground by using wicking. Some sections have no sand and are overgrown with weeds despite having been previously excavated.
According to the contractor, the main source of sand is currently in Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tien Giang sand mines. These are existing mines, while new mines have not been provided. Domestic supply is still scarce, although there is a mechanism to buy Cambodian sand, but because of the high cost and difficult transportation, it is still a barrier for this unit.

In addition, contractors are focusing on speeding up the bridge sections at the TL9 overpass and the N8 bridge, and the bridge progress is exceeding the set plan. The TL9 overpass through Hoc Mon has a total of 14 piers and 2 abutments. Many piers have basically completed the body and base.

The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project is very important for the city's transport development. When completed, this route will help reduce traffic congestion, connect areas and promote socio-economic development.
The total construction project of Ring Road 3 is 76km long, passing through 4 localities, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An with a total investment of nearly 75,400 billion VND.
The project is divided into 8 component projects, each locality implements 2 projects, including site clearance and construction.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project has 14 bid packages, including 10 main construction bid packages and 4 bid packages for exploitation and operation.
The Traffic Department and units are making efforts to keep up with the schedule, basically completing the project by 2025 and opening the entire route to traffic by 2026.
