On January 27, Mr. Le Quang Thach - Chairman of La Lay Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri province) said that regarding the illegal gold mining situation on the Dakrong River, La Lay Commune Police and La Lay International Border Gate Border Guard Station have deployed propaganda and prevention measures.
According to Mr. Le Quang Thach, gold mining on the Dakrong River is spontaneous and small-scale. Every time after rains and floods, there are alluvial grounds on the river, people take advantage of the free time to dig and treat to "gain rice" to survive. Recently, some subjects secretly made and dug soil to treat, when receiving information, the Commune People's Committee requested units to get involved, both pushing them away and propagating. Also according to the leader of La Lay commune, this time the main crop of the people is cassava with low purchasing prices and low incomes, so people come to the river to look for gold to earn income.

The gold mining and processing is carried out by ethnic minorities in the locality, so in the immediate future, the unit will organize the expulsion and propaganda, if it continues to recur, the vehicles will be confiscated and measures will be taken to handle it" - Mr. Le Quang Thach informed.
In addition to handling gold mining subjects, functional agencies have also inspected locations that have been dug deep into road slopes to get soil for gold mining. These points will be remedied by filling them up.
Previously, as reported, the situation of illegal gold mining along the Dakrong River, from A Rong Tren village (La Lay commune) to Ba Bay village (Ta Rut commune), appeared sporadically. Local people brought tools such as hoes, shovels, crowbars, and hats to manually mine gold. Some groups also dug pits, shoveled soil and poured it onto the riverbank to mine gold, collecting some small gold beads and earning from 100,000 - 200,000 VND/day.
Illegal gold mining changes the flow, causes riverbank erosion, and directly affects people's production land.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
