According to a reporter's observations at the Dai Ngai bridge construction site on the morning of the first day of 2025, although it was just after 8 a.m. and the sun was already harsh, more than 200 officers and workers were still at the construction site.
While welding at the girder joints, worker Phung Vu Phuong said: “Working on this bridge, we witnessed people crossing both sides of the river having to rely on ferries and wasting time waiting. Therefore, we are aware of our responsibility for this project, so we are trying our best to complete it soon so that people can travel more easily,” said Mr. Phuong.
Mr. Bach Huy Nam - manager of the bridge construction department of the Contractor Construction Corporation No. 1 - CC1 said that although today is the New Year holiday, in the spirit of speeding up the progress, the unit still maintains the number of staff, working in 3 shifts and 4 teams. Up to now, the output has reached about 90%, ensuring the plan to close the bridge in the next few days.
Mr. Nam said that working on Tet holiday, officers and employees also receive bonuses according to regulations, so most of them are happy and work enthusiastically.
A representative of Project Management Board 58 (Ministry of Transport) - the investor of Dai Ngai Bridge project - said that currently, the construction contractors have mobilized 253 personnel, 91 machines and equipment of various types; deployed 19 construction teams. The total output of the project reached 59%.
Dai Ngai 2 Bridge alone has completed 46/46 cantilever segments, installed 49/91 girder slabs, and 8/13 super-T girder spans. It is expected to be closed between January 3 and 10, 2025 and strives to basically complete by June 2025.

The main cable-stayed bridge has 2 A-shaped towers 110m high (from the bridge deck), main span diagram (210+450+210)m. This is the 2nd largest cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam, after Can Tho bridge and equal to Vam Cong bridge.
The Dai Ngai Bridge project has a total length of more than 15 km. The total cost is nearly 8,000 billion VND. The starting point intersects with National Highway 54, in Hung Hoa Commune (Tieu Can District, Tra Vinh Province). The end point intersects with Nam Song Hau National Highway, in Long Duc Commune (Long Phu District, Soc Trang Province). The project includes 2 main bridge works: Dai Ngai Bridge 1 and Dai Ngai Bridge 2.
The Dai Ngai Bridge project, once completed, will help open the entire National Highway 60, helping the coastal provinces of the Mekong Delta shorten the distance from Ho Chi Minh City by about 80km.
