Nghe An hands over 4 rare animal individuals to Pu Mat National Park

Nghe An - Two peacocks, a salamander and a pangolin were discovered by people and functional forces and handed over to Pu Mat National Park for rescue and conservation.

On August 22, information from Nghe An Provincial Police said that in recent days, people and functional forces in the area have continuously discovered, received and handed over many wild and rare animal individuals to Pu Mat National Park for rescue, care and conservation according to regulations.

On August 19, Anh Son Commune Police coordinated with Anh Son Forest Protection Department to hand over 2 peacocks with a total weight of about 8kg, belonging to group IB to Pu Mat National Park.

Previously, while working in the Con Ke area, Mr. Dang Dinh Thuyet (born in 1984, residing in Phuc Son 2 village, Anh Son commune) discovered 2 peacocks. Recognizing that these were wild and rare animals, Mr. Thuyet brought them back for protection and proactively handed them over to functional agencies.

After receiving them, Pu Mat National Park will bring these individuals back for care, rescue and conservation according to regulations.

Previously, on August 17, Quynh Luu Commune Police received a salamander weighing about 3.5kg, belonging to group IB, handed over by Ms. Ho Thi Van (born in 1988, residing in hamlet 4 Quynh Hong, Quynh Luu commune).

The salamander was discovered when she strayed into Ms. Van's house. After asking relatives to arrest her, she proactively informed and handed it over to the Commune Police. This individual was then transferred to Pu Mat National Park for rescue, care, and monitoring before meeting the conditions for re-release to nature.

At about 8:15 pm on August 14, during a patrol in the Ngu Loc block area, Vinh Loc ward, the patrol team of the Target Protection Police Team under the Mobile Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a pangolin weighing nearly 7kg on a people's road.

The pangolin individual was handed over to Vinh Loc Ward People's Committee, then transported to Pu Mat National Park for rescue, care and towards re-release to the natural environment when conditions are met.

Nghe An Provincial Police said that in the past time, the police force coordinated with forest rangers and local authorities to strengthen patrols and controls in areas at risk of illegal wildlife hunting, trading, transportation, and storage activities.

Functional agencies recommend that when wild animals, especially endangered, precious, and rare species, are detected, people should immediately notify competent authorities; do not arbitrarily hunt, trade, transport, store or raise them illegally.
