On July 13, at the opening session of the 4th Session of the 19th Nghe An Provincial People's Council, term 2026 - 2031, the People's Committee of Nghe An province reported on the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year and key tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
According to the report, the growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of 2026 is estimated to reach 9.65%, ranking 12th in the country and 2nd in the North Central region.
This is the highest growth rate in the first 6 months of Nghe An since 2012 to date.
State budget revenue in the area reached 17,926 billion VND, equal to 76.8% of the estimate and an increase of 28.8% compared to the same period in 2025.

Industry and construction continued to be the main growth driver, with an increase of 14.32%. Total export turnover of goods is estimated at 3.151 billion USD, an increase of 58.4% compared to the same period.
Investment attraction activities achieved high results, with total newly granted and adjusted investment capital increasing by more than 76,627 billion VND, 5.1 times higher than the same period in 2025.
In which, foreign direct investment reached 2.41 billion USD, putting Nghe An ranked 5th in the country in attracting FDI capital. The disbursement rate of public investment capital reached 39.09%.
Standing Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Thanh An said that in the last 6 months of the year, the province will focus on removing difficulties for production and business activities; handling bottlenecks hindering development and exploiting areas with much room for growth.
Nghe An identified science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as important driving forces, striving to achieve growth in the third quarter from 11.62% - 12.53%.
This result is expected to create a foundation for the province to complete the GRDP growth target for the whole year 2026 from 10.5% - 11.5%.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province also requested to accelerate the progress of key projects and works; resolve slow-progressing, backlog projects and prolonged problems.
Along with that, the province will implement solutions to promote disbursement of public investment capital, site clearance; strengthen budget revenue and expenditure management and continue to improve the investment and business environment.
At the session, the Nghe An Provincial People's Council considered 25 reports and is expected to pass 23 resolutions. The Provincial People's Council also conducted questioning on land management, land use right certificate issuance, mineral management and general construction planning for communes and wards.
