Dozens of tons of violating food blocked
On February 12, information from the Nghe An Provincial Market Management Department said that from the beginning of the peak inspection period during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 to now, the unit has coordinated with the Nghe An Provincial Police to continuously detect and handle many violations of food safety.
On January 8, Market Management Team No. 10 inspected a truck on the Ho Chi Minh road, discovering 1.9 tons of fresh bamboo shoots of unknown origin, already oozing slime and smelling. The entire shipment was destroyed and fined more than 30 million VND.

On January 9, functional forces continued to discover 1 ton of pork skin of unknown origin at a business household in Hung Nguyen commune. The pork skin showed signs of damage, not ensuring food safety conditions, was forced to be destroyed and fined more than 30 million VND.
At the beginning of February, Market Management Team No. 11 inspected a business establishment in Truong Vinh ward, discovered 150 packages of seasoning powder of unknown origin, fined 11.5 million VND and forced the destruction of all goods.
Notably, in the early morning of February 5th, the Economic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police in coordination with the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a truck transporting 180 pigs, with a total weight of more than 15 tons, without quarantine certificates. Test results determined that all pigs were infected with African swine fever. This livestock has been destroyed according to regulations.
Not only stopping at the circulation stage, the police force also dismantled a facility producing more than 60,000 liters of fake vinegar, using diluted industrial acetic acid and then labeling it "naturally fermented rice vinegar" for consumption on the market.
Determination to prevent dirty food
Recorded at some people's markets in Vinh City and suburban communes, the amount of fresh food, spices, and processed goods increased sharply in the days leading up to Tet. High consumer demand makes the risk of floating and poor quality goods mixing into the market greater.
According to the assessment of functional agencies, Nghe An is a large area, with many inter-provincial trade routes, including roads, Ho Chi Minh road, National Highway 1A... so controlling the source of goods requires synchronous coordination between forces.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Nghe An Market Management Sub-Department - said that the peak of Tet is a sensitive time, with high food demand. We determine that we must strictly control from the transportation and gathering stages to retail points. The point of view is to handle strictly wherever it is detected, not to let food of unknown origin or fake goods affect people's health.
According to Mr. Huong, in addition to administrative penalties and forcing the destruction of exhibits, the market management force also strengthens propaganda, signs commitments with small traders, and requires them to present invoices and documents proving the origin of goods.
“Protecting consumer rights and maintaining market stability during Tet is not only the task of functional agencies but also requires the joint efforts of people and small traders. When suspicious signs are detected, people need to promptly reflect for handling,” Mr. Huong emphasized.
With dozens of tons of violating food being stopped in a short time, Nghe An is showing strong determination to tighten food safety during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, in order to protect public health and stabilize the market.
