On February 12, information appeared on Facebook social network in Quang Tri reflecting the collection of money on the sidewalk of Me Suot street (Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri province) at a rate of 1 million VND for each square (more than 1 meter long) for Tet trading.
Lao Dong Newspaper's records on the morning of February 12 show that Me Suot street, located in front of Dong Hoi market gate, has many small shops encroaching on the road to trade. On the sidewalk, yellow painted lines are divided into squares, each square is more than 1 meter long and numbered.

Some traders said that each such square is sold for 1 million VND. This amount is paid directly to the Dong Hoi Market Management Board.
On the same morning, representatives of Dong Hoi market confirmed that there was money collection on Me Suot street.
Not only on Me Suot street, on Quach Xuan Ky street (area in front of Me Suot monument, next to Dong Hoi market), many people also reflected a similar situation. According to reflections, each marked box is charged at a price of 1 million VND.

The person directly collecting the money was not an official of the Market Management Board but Mr. Le Manh Long, who was contracted by Dong Hoi ward for a nearby parking area.
On February 12, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Le Manh Long admitted that he had collected money for each marked area of more than 1 meter at a price of 1 million VND. Mr. Long said that the collection of money was to serve sanitation work. However, when asked about the specific regulations, Mr. Long could not explain.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Hung - Director of the General Service Center of Dong Hoi ward said that they will re-examine the reflected content, and if there are violations, they will be handled according to regulations.
