On the afternoon of July 2, the Vinh Hung commune government issued an urgent notice to the people after recording information about an animal suspected to be a crocodile appearing on Lo Bach canal, near the Lo Bach archaeological area.
Initial information said that at around 5:00 p.m. on July 1, some people were while swimming in the canal when they suddenly discovered a large animal shaped like a crocodile floating on the water surface. The location of the discovery is near the Lo Lach archaeological site, in Vinh Hung commune.
Worried about the danger to people living along the canal, the discoverer quickly reported it to the local authorities. Immediately afterwards, militia and police forces were mobilized to monitor the canal to check, verify and have timely handling plans if crocodiles were detected.
Chairman of Vinh Hung Commune People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan said that the locality has implemented warning measures to the people, including notifying through the media system, advising people to limit travel or activities in the water in the canal area, especially not allowing children to bathe in the river or approach areas suspected of crocodiles to ensure safety of life.
In addition, people are required not to arbitrarily surround crocodiles if discovered, but to immediately report to the authorities for proper handling. However, many people have brought fish and nets gathered on both sides of the canal with the intention of waiting for the opportunity to capture this animal.
The Vinh Hung commune government is continuing to coordinate with functional forces to verify information and handle the situation, ensuring safety for the community.
