On the afternoon of August 31, we were present at Mr. Le Binh's house in Thanh Tri (Hanoi), when his children and grandchildren had just taken him for dialysis and medical care, preparing to watch the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
At the age of 98, despite his poor health and difficulty traveling, Mr. Binh is still very clear-minded, remembering the milestones in his life of revolutionary activities.

In 1945, Mr. Binh participated in taking power in his hometown of Thanh Chuong, Nghe An. Four years later, he volunteered to join the National Guard, becoming a soldier of the 57th Regiment, 304th Division.
After that, the soldier from Nghe An participated in the Dien Bien Phu liberation campaign (in 1954). In October 1954, he and his unit returned to liberate and take over the capital.
A year later, Mr. Binh was selected to become a soldier of the 600th Regiment, the Coast Guard Command, the Ministry of Public Security, to protect the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.
Mr. Le Binh has many years of experience as a bodyguard for President Ho Chi Minh.

In 1958, Mr. Le Binh was awarded the First Class Victory Medal by General Vo Nguyen Giap.
In March 6, Mr. Le Binh was awarded the Third Class glorious Soldier Medal by President Ho Chi Minh for his achievements in serving in the Vietnam People's Army.
In 1985, Mr. Le Binh was awarded the First Class Resistance Medal.
Special gift
Mr. Le Ngoc Thuong, Mr. Le Binh's eldest son, said that for the past few months, he has been looking forward to directly watching the parade and march at Ba Dinh Square.
"My whole life has been attached to the revolution, so this parade and parade, my father did not want to miss. In recent days, he has always sat in front of TV watching programs related to parades, counting the days to the grand festival," said Mr. Thuong.

The children and grandchildren learned about the routes and road closure times to find a way to put the child in the best possible monitoring location.
After careful preparation, at 4:00 a.m. on August 30, Mr. Le Binh was taken by his children and grandchildren to the general parade and parade.
When Mr. Ha introduced his father, the police officers on duty in the Kham Thien and Doan Thi Diem areas enthusiastically supported and called a police car to take Mr. Binh and his children to the Hang Chao area - where the parade passed.
Mr. Binh was arranged to sit in a priority area established by the authorities to serve veterans and the elderly. In addition, he has doctors to help measure blood pressure, check his health, and his son and grandchildren are on duty to take care of him.

"On September 2, my two younger brothers and I will go together to take care of our father, so that he can fully witness the historic moment," said Mr. Thuong.
