As one of the families directly involved in the subsidence, Mr. Truong Van Dung - residing in Group 1, Nam Son 2 area, Cam Son ward, Cam Pha city - said: "At 6am on March 13, when I opened the door to work, I saw the sidewalk drop about 10cm, at that time the land of my neighbor was holding the stake, the sidewalk continued to drop. At 10:00 a.m. the same day, also in this area, another sinkhole was discovered, causing a part of the road and sidewalk to collapse. Right after the subsidence, my family rented excavators and equipment to reinforce the house foundation."

According to Mr. Dung, the family's plan was to use an excavator to scoop up all the mud and dirt, then tie up steel plant and stuff concrete to reinforce the foundation. After the concrete is dry at this point, it will continue to be made around the house in turn. It is expected to be completed in about 1 week.
By March 15, also in this area, another household had proactively dug foundations and pumped concrete to reinforce their houses when subsidence occurred.
According to statistics, from 2023 to present, there have been nearly 10 sinkholes in the ward with similar widnesses, from 3-5-10m, depth from 2m -2.5m, affecting traffic and 3 households.
This new urban area that has been located on the sea has been invested by Quang Hong Construction Joint Stock Company since 1995
Mr. Vu Dinh Duy - Vice Chairman of Cam Son Ward People's Committee - said: As soon as the sinkhole appeared, the ward arranged security guards to be on duty 24/7, not allowing strangers to enter the danger zone. Mr. Dung's household has been supported by the People's Committees and associations of the ward with 3 million VND to move to a temporary residence.
After Mr. Dung's family had finished repairing the sinkholes on the road, it was the responsibility of Quang Hong Construction Joint Stock Company.
Regarding this phenomenon, the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ninh is coordinating with the Institute of Geophysics under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to research and determine solutions to apply science and technology to assess the overall geology, thereby having solutions to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
While waiting for the research results of specialized agencies, the People's Committee of Cam Son Ward, Cam Pha City also informed people in the surrounding area to monitor all changes in the houses and land in use; promptly notify the authorities when there are signs of abnormality. At the same time, it is recommended that households should use static stake-taking measures when building houses to minimize the impact of subsidence that has occurred in recent years.
