On the morning of March 28th at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi City People's Committee will launch the "Responding to Earth Hour Campaign, summer peak on energy saving and efficiency in 2026 in Hanoi City".
The event is organized by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion - Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Innovation - Ministry of Science and Technology and related units.
Activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting community action towards efficient use of resources, energy, technology application and innovation in development methods.
The event is expected to attract thousands of attendees with many diverse and attractive activities. Public interaction communication activities at the event have the participation of businesses and organizations operating in the field of energy and environment. Display space for green solutions with products, technologies and services on clean energy, efficient energy use and environmental protection.
The highlight of the event is activities to experience energy-saving products such as renewable energy application models in urban and household spaces, electric bicycles. A series of direct communication activities at the event area to raise community awareness about energy saving and green lifestyles.
Public art activities are also a very impressive part of the event with community creative forms to spread the message "Green Creativity - Green Future". In particular, many exciting activities will be organized during 1 hour of lights off from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM in response to the Global Earth Hour Campaign.
The Earth Hour 2026 campaign with the message "Green Creativity - Green Future" aims to promote the movement to use energy economically and efficiently with strong spillover effects in the community.
Through the Launching Ceremony to respond to the Earth Hour Campaign, the summer peak on economical and efficient energy use in 2026, the Hanoi People's Committee called on all levels, sectors, the business community and people nationwide to strengthen practice of economical and efficient energy use; proactively apply technological solutions, innovate production and consumption methods, and gradually form a reasonable energy-using lifestyle, contributing to improving productivity, quality and efficiency of socio-economic development.
Responding to the Earth Hour Campaign has become one of the typical activities in Hanoi. According to statistics, Hanoi City's electricity saving output reached 45,705 kWh in 1 hour of lights out of Earth Hour 2025, equivalent to a rate of 10.2% compared to the whole country.
Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW issued by the Politburo on August 20, 2025 on ensuring national energy security to 2030, vision to 2045 has emphasized the requirement to promote the use of energy economically and efficiently, considering this as one of the important solutions for sustainable development.
Closely following Resolution No. 70, Hanoi City has issued Plan No. 11-KH/TU to concretize the goal of ensuring national energy security by 2030 and a long-term vision to 2045.
In which, the city focuses on synchronously implementing solutions to strive to achieve energy savings of 8-10% of the city's total energy consumption by 2030, promote the use of high-efficiency and energy-saving equipment and machinery; improve electricity supply capacity, strongly develop renewable energy sources such as rooftop solar power and waste-to-energy to meet the needs of sustainable economic growth.
