On the evening of October 22, the leader of the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Nam Ward (Gia Lai) confirmed that the locality had just received a crocodile weighing about 50kg that was proactively handed over by the people.
"Currently, the locality has completed the procedures to hand over the crocodile to the forest rangers for management according to regulations. At the same time, a certificate of merit will be awarded to commend the sense of responsibility of the people who have handed over this individual, informed the leader of Quy Nhon Nam Ward People's Committee.
The leader of Quy Nhon Nam Ward People's Committee said that there are no households raising crocodiles in the area. This individual was discovered close to the mountains and was initially thought to be a natural crocodile, appearing in residential areas after many recent heavy rains.

According to initial information, in the afternoon of the same day, 1 person discovered and caught a crocodile in a residential area in area 23, Quy Nhon Nam ward. Realizing that this is a rare wild animal, the people have proactively submitted it to the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Nam Ward.
After receiving the goods, the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department of the ward coordinated with the Forest Protection Department of Tuy Phuoc - Quy Nhon area to carry out the initial receiving and care procedures. The crocodile was then handed over to the conservation area in accordance with regulations.
According to initial determination, the above crocodile belongs to group IB - an endangered, rare animal that is given priority for protection. The voluntary handover of the people demonstrates a sense of responsibility, contributing to the local government in managing and protecting biodiversity.
