On April 16, Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department (Quang Binh Province) said that she had just handed over a pig-tailed macaque to the rescue, conservation and development center (belonging to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park) to continue taking care and recovery before dropping back to the natural environment.
Earlier, the monkey individual was bought by Mr. Phan Van Ngoc (residing in Tam Da village, Son Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district) from local people to raise. However, after researching the law, Mr. Ngoc realized that the captivity of forest animals was a violation and voluntarily contacted the forest ranger to hand over.
The male monkey, weighs about 6kg, belongs to the pig-tailed macaque (Macaca Leonina) - an endangered and rare forest animal of Group IIB under the Government's Decree 84/2021/ND -CP. At the time of handing over, the monkey individual showed signs of injury on the hind leg, the wild behavior was impaired.
According to the representative of the rescue center, the monkey will be monitored health, treat injuries and train instinct to survive before re -releasing the forest.
