On February 25, leaders of Huong Phung commune, Quang Tri province confirmed that a resident in this commune died during the process of being transported to the emergency hospital. The victim is Mr. Ho T., 46 years old, residing in Cat village.
According to Mr. Ho Van Tinh, head of Cat village, Mr. T. started to feel abdominal pain and diarrhea from the evening of February 23. At about 1 pm on February 24, Mr. T. fainted. Immediately, a group of young people in the village used motorbikes and hammocks to take Mr. T. to the hospital.
However, the road from Cat village to the hospital is currently seriously landslide, making travel very difficult. To get to National Highway 9, it is necessary to overcome 6 major landslide points, the deepest point is more than 20m, making it impossible for vehicles to move through.
Despite being tired, the group of young men still tried to take Mr. T. to the hospital by carrying hammocks across streams and forests. However, when arriving at the hospital at more than 5 pm on the same day, doctors confirmed that Mr. T. had died.
If only the roads were convenient, Mr. T. could have been rescued in time and had a chance of survival" - Mr. Tinh shared.

At the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, Cat village has repeatedly established delegations to take patients and pregnant women across forests and streams to the hospital by carrying hammocks across streams, carrying them across forests... To support the people, the locality has repeatedly proposed to higher authorities to support the repair of this road, but so far, the road has not been repaired.
Cat and Tria villages in Huong Phung commune have 175 households including more than 500 people located deep in the forest belonging to the Southern Quang Tri Special-Use Forest Management Board. From the commune center to the place is only about 20km of forest road, but the road is muddy and slippery, many sections cannot be traveled by motorbikes, when it rains, the road is paralyzed.
To drive a car, people have to go around 5 communes with a distance of more than 85km. But this road currently has many large landslide points, with some places becoming cliffs. Recent heavy rains, due to road damage, Cat and Tria were isolated, and trade was disrupted.
