On February 24, Bao Lam 1 Commune Police (Lam Dong province) said that a resident in the area voluntarily handed over a rare pangolin individual to functional forces.
Previously, Mr. Doan Hong Hai (born 1976, residing in hamlet 5 Loc Quang, Bao Lam 1 commune) brought to the police headquarters a mature, healthy pangolin individual, about 52cm long, weighing more than 5kg.
This is a endangered, precious and rare forest animal, which is strictly protected and is listed in the Vietnam Red Book.
Mr. Hai said that when he discovered the animal with a characteristic horn scale in the area of village 5 Loc Quang, realizing that it could be a rare animal that needs to be protected, he proactively took it to the police agency to report.
Receiving the pangolin individual, Bao Lam 1 Commune Police praised the spirit of responsibility and self-awareness of the people. Currently, the unit is completing procedures to hand over to the forest ranger agency and the wildlife rescue center, and soon release them back into the natural environment.
