On February 23 (the 7th day of the first lunar month), in the fields of Tong Xanh village, Coc San commune, the Roong Pooc Festival - the going-to-the-field festival of the Giay people - took place in a jubilant atmosphere, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.
Roóng Poọc is a long-standing traditional cultural activity, opening a new production season. This is also an opportunity for the Giay community and brotherly ethnic groups in the area to meet, strengthen solidarity, remind and pass on the unique customs and rituals of their ancestors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Thai Hoc - Chairman of Coc San Commune People's Committee - said that the festival contributes to helping people understand more deeply about customs and traditional beliefs. From there, each person will actively participate in preserving and promoting indigenous cultural values, building a cultural life in residential areas.
The ritual part is solemnly organized with rituals presided over by shaman Phung A Loi. The offering tray is elaborately prepared, including familiar products from mountains, forests and fields such as chickens, pigs, fish, bamboo shoots, sticky rice...

Each offering is offered to express gratitude to the gods, praying for favorable weather, bumper crops, healthy people, and prosperous families.
After the traditional ritual part, the atmosphere in the fields became bustling with giao lưu and folk entertainment activities. The joyful laughter harmonized with the colors of traditional costumes, creating a brilliant spring picture in the Coc San countryside.
Through the festival, local authorities integrate propaganda and mobilize people to promote the application of scientific and technical advances in production, and convert crop and livestock structures to suit actual conditions.

In parallel with economic development, the preservation of traditional cultural identity continues to be identified as an important foundation for building community tourism, creating stable and long-term livelihoods for people.
Roóng Poọc is therefore not only a spring field festival, but also a spiritual support, a place to gather faith and aspirations for a full new year on Coc San land.
