On the afternoon of July 17, Dak Doa - Pleiku Forest Protection Department said it had received the golden mountain turtle (scientific name Indotestudo elongata) from Mr. Nguyen Thai Hong Phong, residing in Dien Hong ward.
Previously, on the morning of July 15, while exercising, Mr. Phong discovered a cow turtle in his yard and suspected that this was a rare species, so he contacted the forest rangers to hand it over.
Through inspection, Dak Doa - Pleiku Forest Protection Department determined that this is a yellow mountain turtle with the scientific name Indotestudo elongata, belonging to group IIB of the list of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals.
Currently, this individual has been transferred to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Creatures in Kon Ka Kinh National Park, Gia Lai province for health check-ups before being released into the natural environment.
