On July 3, Quang Ninh Commune Police, Quang Tri Province, received a rare red-faced monkey voluntarily handed over by local people.
The monkey weighed about 9kg, repeatedly encroaching, causing property damage in the family of Mr. Le Van Tuan (born in 1965, residing in Quang Ninh commune). After discovering that this was a wild animal that needed to be protected, Mr. Tuan proactively arrested and notified the local authorities for handling according to regulations.
Quang Ninh Commune Police have drawn up a record of receiving and completing the procedures for handing over the monkey to Quang Ninh Forest Protection Department for care and release into the natural environment.
Red-faced monkeys (scientific name Macaca arctoides) are in Group IIB - a group of endangered and rare forest animals protected under Decree 84/2021/ND-CP of the Government.
