Ho Chi Minh City residents struggle to wade through water, vehicles are "buried" after heavy rain

HCMC - On the evening of October 7, heavy rain caused deep flooding on many streets in Binh Thanh District, causing people to struggle to wade through water and get stuck in traffic on their way home.

After only 30 minutes of rain, many roads in Binh Thanh district began to be deeply flooded. Typically, Le Van Duyet street was flooded for a section of about 200m.

In particular, on Bach Dang Street, severe flooding lasted about 800m, from alley 230 Bach Dang Street to the Xo Viet Nghe Tinh intersection. The water was more than half way up the wheel, making it difficult for vehicles to pass. Furthermore, the water also overflowed onto the sidewalks and into the houses of people on both sides of the street, forcing them to use wooden boards to block the water flow.

On Dinh Bo Linh Street, the water level also rose above motorbike wheels, seriously affecting many households. The flooded road stretched from Bach Dang intersection to Dien Bien Phu.

A local resident said that this road is often flooded when it rains heavily. Today, after only about 15 minutes of rain, the water flooded deep into their houses and made their lives more difficult.

Heavy rain caused serious traffic congestion, especially at intersections such as Bach Dang - Dinh Bo Linh and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh streets.

At Hang Xanh intersection, there was also a heavy traffic jam after the rain. On Dien Bien Phu Street, the situation was no better as both directions from Dien Bien Phu Bridge to Van Thanh pedestrian overpass were congested. Many vehicles were moving slowly, making people tired when trying to get home tonight.
